Year 8 Boys District Football v DWPS

CCS Year 8 Boys team Captained by N Thumbwood played champagne football in the second half to claim a 7 – 1 victory against Daventry William Parker School. They didn’t have the most impressive start to the 1st round of the District Cup but started getting together after 10 minutes when E Herbert headed in after clever work down the right wing. William Parker answered with a goal on the break after some uncertain defending at the back. CCS scored again close to the first half interval after some good midfield play. The defence started looking solid with M Pauluck and W Greenwood gaining a better understanding of each others play.

The flood gates opened in the second half, R Clifton found his first touch eventually and slotted 2 goals, whilst J Roberts went close several times, eventually scoring a screamer in the top left hand corner. R Clifton coolly slotted his third goal and hat trick with E Herbert also adding another and substitute R Watson converting at the far post. The movement off the ball certainly improved with greater support play opening up the defence in the second half. The team now look forward to playing Campion or Kingsbrook in the quarter finals. Well done boys.

Mr Oliver.
