A. Nobbs – Long Jump, F. Anyoaha – 100m, K. Morton – 200m, A. Blackburn – High Jump and H. Evans – 100m were all selected for the South Northants Athletics team for the County competition at Rockingham Triangle Stadium. On a very wet and windy evening, all pupils performed well with A. Nobbs – Long Jump, despite not performing to her potential still managing 3.79m to finish second in the County. K. Morton had a good run and finished strongly to come 3rd in the County in the 200m with a time of 30.70secs, H. Evans also crept into the medal positions, with a powerful finish and 2nd place in the 100m sprint in a time of 13.20secs. A. Blackburn was affected by the wet conditions in the high jump and managed to clear 1.15m for 9th position, although her PB is 1.20m which would have allowed her to finish in the top 5. F. Anyoaha who was only called up to the 100m on the day due to another athlete’s injury did very well by reaching the final of the girls 100m sprint and finished in 5th place. All athletes helped the South Northants team achieve overall victory in the County in both the boys and girls competition. Another highlight was that H. Evans also helped the boy’s relay team clinch victory. The pupils don’t go through to the Midlands competition at Year 7 stage and must now wait until Year 8 to see how they progress. Well-done to all, who can now say they competed for the County champions – South Northants.
