K.Lebon Stars in debut County Cross Country race

K.Lebon was among many other outstanding performers from CCS in the above race. She ran a superb race, finishing 2nd in the County and making it through to the County team. B.Pinto came a superb 9th and also made it through to the team. L.Shore only just missed out a place on the team with a very good 19th position and J.Gilding finished 47th in a tough field of over 80 female runners. R.Blessyn failed to finish the tough course and Z.Garlick who finished 3rd in the District race was unfortunately sick on the day and didn’t make the starting line. In the Year 7 Boys J.Miller came a very respectable 18th with an injured foot and S.Hamp was close on his heels in 19th position. Both boys will be in the reserves for the County team and should be proud of their achievements. M.Kinder just missed out a place in the County team by finishing 17th. S.Andrews unfortunately did not finish.

In the U15’s race, M.Love finished an amazing 5th place and goes into the County team, despite running 1 large lap with one spike after it had fallen off! The multi talented F.Anyhoa and B.Goddard came 18th and 19th respectively, which is a massive achievement considering they are only year 8s (age 13). In the boy’s race, A.Westgarth in his first attempt at the County race came a very decent 26th place and W.Greenwood came top 40. Both boys did themselves and the school proud with their efforts.

In the U17’s girls race E.long surprised herself yet again by finishing 14th in the longest race she has done, and should take some confidence from this. She will be a reserve in the County team. In the boy’s race K.Garlick was a top 20 finisher and will be a reserve for the boy’s squad.

Several of the South Northants PE teachers commented on the high number of CCS runners in The South Northants team. It is the best success so far with so many making the County squads or being selected as reserves. Well done to all runners and thanks goes to parents who cheered them on, on a chilly but beautiful Saturday morning.
