Another windy May day and another game of cricket. CCS were force to bat after Roade had one the toss and elected to bowl. S Briggs and V Patel opened the batting but unfortunately the usually reliable S Briggs was deceived by a fast ball and was out for duck! Another year7, R Chamberlain came into bat and formed a partnership of 58 with some fine shot selection from both players. With the need to add to the total, after taking more risks Chamberlain was bowled. J Rust was next in and played his way to a quick 17 (2 boundaries) before losing his wicket. J Snook came to the crease only for V Patel to add to his total (25) and see out the 18 overs to leave CCS with a respectable 110 for 3.
Roade with a tall order off of 18 overs again lost an early wicket to Snook. The Roade opener formed a decent partnership with 3rd in. An impressive fielding performance from M Verumu taking two catches soon put the pressure back on the home side. The run rate was reasonable but slightly short of what was required but on a windy day only a few extras can change the picture dramatically. Notable bowling displays from S Atwal, R Chamberlain, J Rust, V Patel and S Briggs halted the Roade run rate. In a tense finish CCS manage to secure a victory. Roade totalled 92 for 9 wickets after the allotted 18 over’s.
CCS win by 18 Runs.
Well done to both teams.
