Year 7 Team Building Trip Letter 16.09.09

Dear Parents/Guardian

I am pleased to write to you about how well your child has settled into Year 7 at Caroline Chisholm School. Every
student was able to spend time with their tutor during their first day at the school in order for them to learn more
about school life. You will shortly receive a newsletter explaining what is coming up for the Year 7’s this term and
also to give parents more information about what to expect at secondary.

I am also writing to inform you about our up coming Team Building Day. This day will enable the students to work
together as a tutor group and develop their team work skills. Their tutor will accompany them on this trip and will
take part in all of the activities.

The day will be held at Grendon Hall which is the Northamptonshire Educational Activities Centre. Each child will be
taking part in two different activities including: Archery, Raft building, Team building/ Mountain biking, Climbing,
Abseiling and Canoeing. All activities are run and organised by fully qualified outdoor education instructors.

The day will take place on either Monday 28th September, Tuesday 29th September or Wednesday 30th September
depending on your childs tutor group.

7MCT, 7JIN and 7VP will go on Monday 28th September.
7HLE and 7AWD will go on Tuesday 29th September.
7STO, 7PB and 7CCZ will go on Wednesday 30th September.

We will leave school after morning registration and travel via coach to the centre. Please ensure that your child arrives
prompty at the normal time of 8:45am. We will be arriving back at school at 4:30pm.

Your child will need to wear suitable clothes for outdoor activities. This is dependant on the activites that your child is
taking part in. All students will need suitable footwear such as trainers. They will also need a waterproof jacket and
clothes that are easy to move in. Jeans are not appropriate. If your child is taking part in raft building or canoeing they
will also need to being clothes that can get wet and a swimming costume. Once the activity lists are finalised I will send
home a more detailed list of suitable clothes.

Lunch is provided by the centre and this will be a hot lunch. Please could you note on the reply slip of any specific dietry
requirements your child may have.

We asking parents to contribute towards the trip and the cost to parents is £30.50. The trip is not compulsory; however,
we believe it will help your child develop their team work skills greatly. Please contact me at school if there are any issues
concerning payment as we would like all students to attend. If your child does not take part in the trip, they will need to
come to school as normal on the day in uniform.

You will shortly receive a letter regarding parentpay at the school. This method of payment is the safest way of money
being paid to school. The letter will fully explain the system and if you have any queries or concerns about paying for this
trip via parentpay, please do not hesitate to contact the school. You will be able to pay for the trip as soon as you receive
the letter with your parentpay login information.

Please could you complete the attached consent form and return it to Students Services before Tuesday 22nd September.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

Yours sincerely,

Anna Still
Head of Year 7
