The year 8 squad travelled to Wollaston on Wednesday 23rd September for their first ever game in the county cup. The squad was as follows C Ray, S Caldera, R Chamberlain, N Chapman, P Griggs, C Tew, C Byfield, O Ghvarmi, S Hamp, A Roberts, E Baldwin, V Patel, J Kightley and S Heavey.
The team started well but unfortunately conceded a penalty. C Ray making his debut in goal, made a tremendous save from the spot kick. The team then had a number of chances to take the lead but it was Wollaston who took the lead direct from a corner. S Hamp was lively from the left hand side and it was a great strike from him that levelled the scores just before half time. 1-1
The second half followed much of the same with CCS dominating possession. After a ‘mazy’ run A Roberts was brought down in the box and the resulting penalty was scored by captain R Chamberlain. CCS were in control for much of the second half although chance after chance was missed leaving Wollaston only needing one chance to send the game into extra time!
CCS managed to limit the home side to only one chance late on and the resulting counter attack confirmed victory for CCS as E Baldwin broke clear of the defence and slotted past the advancing keeper.
Superb performance and good luck in the next round.
Player of the Match: C Ray.
