Day 1 – Saturday 23rd October 2010
Disappointingly it was a bit grey and drizzly but full of enthusiasm we still set out to make the most of Melbourne! Some of us were out and about by eight and some just slept in late! Everyone has settled in really well with their hosts and a huge range of activities were enjoyed by all. Several took the shopping option very seriously, the boys mainly visited all of the key sporting venues such as Melbourne Cricket Ground, some went to the set of Neighbours and others hit the city sites.
Day 2 – Sunday 24th October 2010
At last the sun came out and skies were blue. T-shirts and sunglasses on. The students continued with their various activities; some students visited the Eureka tower (the highest building and view in the Southern Hemisphere). Relatively early nights were needed to prepare for our visit into school.
Day 3 – Monday 25th October 2010
Sian’s 18th birthday! We all met up at CCCC (Caroline Chisholm Catholic College) and had a welcome ceremony led by one of the host students and Michael Quin, the Principal. After a tour of the school we then had a tour of two of the three campuses which house the junior boys (St John’s) and the senior co-ed (Sacred Heart). We then headed off to lessons with our hosts. After lunch we have been making boomerangs (some more successfully than others) and tomorrow apparently we will be hiding their defects by painting them tomorrow.
We will be in school again tomorrow before starting some of our excursions on Wednesday. Everyone is fine and enjoying themselves.
