As part of the Humanities curriculum, Year 9 students will be off timetable on Monday 14th July 2014 for our annual Holocaust Memorial Day. The Humanities Department and Educators from the Historical Educational Trust will deliver workshops to students which will enable them to learn more about this tragic event. We are privileged that Mr. Zigi Shipper, a Holocaust survivor, will visit the school to talk to the year group and I would also like to give parents, governors and staff the opportunity to hear about his experiences during this horrendous time in history. Mr. Shipper is a remarkable man who has a terrific impact on those who meet him and as you can appreciate, the chance to listen to and speak to a Holocaust survivor is a unique opportunity. Mr. Shipper’s talk which will begin at 1:35pm in the Main Hall and if you would like to come, please could you email Mr. McKenna at firstname.lastname@example.org who will give you an attendance slip to complete which should be returned to the school office before Monday 7th July 2014. We hope that you and all the students will benefit from this incredibly valuable event.
