Big Health and Happiness Week: 6th – 10th October 2014
During the week beginning 6th October, the children in Primary Phase will take part in a range of sporting and health activities as part of Big Health and Happiness Week. Our theme for this year is ‘Get Inspired’, and the children may experience activities such as archery, ballet and multi-skills, to name but a few. The Life Education Bus will also return for the children in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 where they will learn all about their amazing bodies.
The children will also be learning about how to keep themselves healthy, including talks by medical practitioners tailored to their age, discussions about eating healthily and the opportunity to cook and try new foods.
During Big Health and Happiness Week we aim to support the work of a charity which helps others who are in need to be healthy and happy. This year we have chosen to support Food Bank Northampton.
Children and families are asked to donate food item, baby essentials, home care and toiletries for the charity. Any donations of the items listed below will be greatly appreciated. Our target is to fill a big crate which will be located in primary reception.
Within reason, we will be outside for our programme of sport and outdoor activities whatever the weather, so please ensure that your child has appropriate PE kit for outdoors as well as indoors, including a pair of trainers and plimsolls.
We will send children’s PE kit home at the end of school on Friday 10th October for a wash, as they will have been wearing it most of the week. Please ensure they bring it back to school on Monday 13th October as normal PE lessons will resume from that date.
Big Health and Happiness is an action packed week and we hope everyone will enjoy participating in some of the wide range of educational activities and sporting opportunities.
