Athletics success

We have had another successful Athletics season this year across the district! Over the past few years the P.E department have worked hard to change how we develop our athletes and how we select the students for the district competitions. These changes have spanned across our lessons, the extra-curricular training and our records boards. We are really pleased with the progress we have made over the last few years and the performances against other schools in our district.
Last month the U15s (years 8 and 9) and the U17s (years 10 and 11) competed in the South Northants District Competition in Rugby. CCS was one of thirteen schools in attendance. There were some standout performances from all four teams as well as the Year 8/9 Girls AND the Year 8/9 boys teams both winning the competition overall!! This is a fantastic achievement and highlights the sporting talent we have here at CCS. When the students perform in the top three within their discipline, they are then selected to represent South Northants in the County Athletics Competition. We wish the following students good luck in this competition on Saturday….
X.Pasqualine – 200m, M.Muchemi – Shot Put, P.Hawkes – High Jump, J.Donahue – 100m & Shot Put, S.Thomas – 800m, R.Croft – 1500m, L.Turner – Hurdles, R.Forde – Shot Put & Discus, M.Blomley – 800m, W.Dean – Long Jump & 200m, S.Rodella – 400m, A.O’Brien – 800m, M.Corbett – 1500m, E.Pearmain – Discus, G.Cresser – Javelin, C.Searle – 1500m & 3000m, M.Reynolds – Discus & Shot Put, S.Fletcher – Discus, J.Roberts – Javelin, B.Liddington – Long Jump, H.Walker – 800m.

The boys team won overall! The year 7 girls relay team made up of A.Thomas, O, Ndefo, T. Kwarteng and M. Ajagungbade smashed the 14 year old record for the 4x100m relay!! Brilliant performance!
