Year 6 – Sally's Tournament Success

A massive well done to Sally and her team SYL Blacks U11 Girls, over the weekend, they travelled to Bognor Regis to take part in the ESF Tournament, competing against strong teams from across the entire country. The standard of football was extremely high, making it a tough and competitive tournament. Despite this, Sally and her teammates showed outstanding determination and teamwork and went on to win the entire tournament!

The final was especially dramatic. SYL faced the only team to have beaten them during the two-day event, making the stakes incredibly high. After a tense match, the final score finished 1–1, leading to penalties. Both teams remained level at 3–3, meaning it all came down to the goalkeepers. The SYL goalkeeper scored confidently before producing a brilliant save of the opposition’s penalty, securing the win and crowning SYL Blacks U11 Girls as tournament champions!

This incredible achievement has now qualified the SYL girls for the Champion of Champions Tournament, which will take place at St George’s Park in June.

🌟 About Sally's Football Journey

Away from this tournament success, Sally continues to impress as an individual player. She trains four nights a week, including Mondays in Peterborough, where she is part of the Peterborough United Elite Player Pathway (EPP).

She plays up a year at U12 level on Saturdays in Division 1, losing only one game all season, and her team has reached both the County Cup Final and the League Cup Final.

On Sundays, Sally also competes in the Weetabix League, playing in Division 1 against boys her own age, further demonstrating her commitment, resilience, and passion for the game.

Congratulations to Sally on this outstanding achievement — we wish her every success in her upcoming matches!
