  • Junior Strictly Northampton success for Year 5&6

    Published 16/11/22

On Saturday 12 November, we entered two teams from Year 5 and 6 into the final of the Junior Strictly Northampton competition. In the morning, both teams competed against 14 other schools from Northampton. Our red team placed 1st, advancing to the next round, and our yellow team placed 2nd 🎉

Following their 1st place win in the morning, the red team came back to compete in the afternoon against the winners of the second round of the competition final, of which there were 12 schools.

We were up first to dance, and it was very very close and literally came down to a finger. The red team danced very well considering they had been there 6 hours but unfortunately, Woodland View just beat us, and we took home 2nd place. A massive well done to the red team for securing a 2nd place win out of all 26 teams involved - a brilliant result!

Both teams had a great time at the competition and both me and Mrs Honeywood are very proud of them! The teams trained extremely hard for the competition. Practising 2 nights after school and most lunchtimes, well done to you all for your incredible hard work.

We would like to say a special thank you to Rose D, Holly S and Ollie H (an ex-student and brother of Jasmine who competed) for giving up their time to come and help train both teams.

⁃ Miss Carter (Year 6 Class Teacher)

What an amazing achievement our Year 7 student, Zane Clements, who was recently awarded a Pass with Merit in Musical Theatre grade 4.  He first became interested in musical theatre performance when he was in Year 1. He was chosen to be in the school performance and really enjoyed the experience. Since then, he would always try to participate in as many school productions as possible.

He has been attending Stage Coach Drama School every Saturday since and continues to work on his abilities as a performer. On Sunday, Zane and some members from his group are performing a short version of the Broadway musical, The Spelling Bee at Shaftsbury Theatre in the West End! He will be performing again on 27th November at the Lighthouse Theatre in Kettering where he will play the lead role of Danny Zuko in Grease.

We can't wait to see all that you do next, Zane. As they say in theatre, "Break a leg!".

  • Year 12 Playwright

    Published 20/04/22

Introducing our Year 12 Student, Céadach Staff who is being recognised for his talented writing. Below, is from his own words:

I started writing for the stage in Year 9, having written and directed my group's end of year performance, I ended up penning a couple of plays over that summer. Reading these back, my early work has some poor dialogue, characters with no depth, but some basic understanding of ideas of structure. I’ve continued writing plays, and my more recent work has become more abstract and surrealist. I would cite Alfred Hitchcock, Franz Kafka and the noir genre as influences to my concurrent work.  After Year 13, I hope to go to York University to study playwriting.

These are some stills from my short play "Untitled", which follows a man as he becomes increasingly obsessed with a light. On the surface, "Untitled" appears as a very abstract vignette, but, as the title suggests, it is designed for the audience to take any interpretation of the light they wish. Among others, some interpretations see the light as the ghost of a loved one, a metaphor for hope, and a retelling of the Myth of Tantalus.
