Autumn Half-Term 1

Britain at War Coursework

Sources about aspects of Britain’s role in both World Wars are analysed and evaluated before students then answer two questions on the sources under controlled examination conditions.

Autumn Half-Term 2

USA in the 1920s

This unit explores how the USA experienced a boom during the decade after the First World War and asks whether this benefitted all Americans. This is done through topics such as Cinema and Entertainment, Prohibition and Gangsters, Racism and the Ku Klux Klan and The Effects of the Stock Market Crash.

Spring Half-Term 1

USA in the 1930s

The second unit on America explores the Great Depression of the 1930s and looks at Roosevelt’s attempts at dealing with this through various agencies known as the New Deal. The focus is on how successful this was and whether the Second World War was more important in ending Depression.

Spring Half-Term 2

Revision for Exams

In this term we will focus on revisiting the content covered in the previous two years but will combine this with examination techniques particular to each exam.

Summer Half-Term 1

Students will sit two exams for history. Paper One will cover three topics studied in Year 10 on International Relations while Paper Two will cover the 3 Depth Studies on Stalin, The USa in the 1920s and The USA in the 1930s.
