    Punctuality and Lateness

Being on time is an important part of “The CCS Way” – doing the right thing, in the right place, at the right time. A punctual start helps classrooms remain calm and ready for learning and supports students in developing positive habits for school and beyond.

We expect all students in Years R–13 to be in their classrooms, seated and ready to learn by 8:45am.

    Primary School (Years R–6)

Primary gates open at 8:25am, allowing children to arrive calmly and be in class for morning registration at 8:45am.

If a primary child arrives on site after 8:45am, once the gates have closed, they will be required to sign in at Primary Reception, and this will be recorded as late.

Where a primary student repeatedly arrives late, parents/carers may be contacted to discuss how we can work together to provide support and improve punctuality, in line with our inclusive and restorative approach.

    Secondary School (Years 7–11)

For students in Years 7–11, arrival after 8:45am is recorded as late and will result in a same‑day breaktime detention, reflecting the expectation that students are ready to learn at the start of the day.

In line with the school’s mobile‑free policy, any student who arrives late and is found in possession of a mobile phone will have the phone confiscated at the gate. The phone will be returned during the student’s breaktime detention on the same day, provided the detention is attended as required.

    Sixth Form (Years 12–13)

Sixth Form students are expected to model high standards of punctuality. Students arriving late will be issued with a same‑day breaktime detention.

Students who are late more than three times within a half‑term will lose their home study privileges, as regular punctual attendance is essential preparation for further study and employment.
