Year 6 student racing his way to the top

Year 6 student Toby has been racing his way to the top in local Go Karting championships.
Toby’s initial passion for Go Karting began at a young age, racing across a number of indoor and outdoor tracks, and it was quickly obvious he had a natural talent and desire to learn and be competitive.
He has been a part of the Whilton Mill Karting Academy for over 12 months now. Initially, the programme teaches core skills of STEM based learning using the medium of motorsport. Over six in-depth modules, each lasting 4 hours, covering safety, Kart control, race craft, mechanics, engineering and the science of going fast.
Following Toby’s graduation from last year’s programme, he qualified to compete in the WMKA Graduate Championship for Cadets (aged 10-12) which involves 8 races over a 6-month period. Each race includes a timed qualifier, 2 heats and a grand final. Points are awarded depending on placing, and a Championship Winner will be awarded at the end of the season.
In just his 2nd Championship race of the season, Toby qualified for the final in pole position, and led the race throughout, eventually crossing the finishing line in 1st place, just 0.2 seconds ahead of 2nd place, in a race where less than 3 seconds separated the top 6 drivers.
6 races still to go, but Toby currently sits at the top of the overall standings!
We wish you lots of luck for the remainder of the Championship Toby. We are all rooting for you!
