Caroline Chisholm School was the UK’s first purpose built all-through school which opened in state-of-the-art facilities in 2004. The school is a dynamic, successful and highly over-subscribed academy with over 2000 students on roll, of which 420 pupils are in the primary phase and around 300 students in the Sixth form. Our facilities include an extensive Design & Technology department which includes a wood workshop, textile and state of the art cookery rooms, and an electronics studio, IT suites, a bespoke visual art area and gallery and a sixth form centre.

The Business Studies department recently set Year 10 GCSE students an exciting Cereal Box Challenge to bring their learning on marketing and the marketing mix to life. Students were tasked with creating a brand-new breakfast cereal, complete with a unique brand identity and packaging design. The product itself had to include a blend of bran flakes, rice puffs, and dried fruit, encouraging students to think carefully about ingredients, target markets, and product positioning. A key part of the challenge was to design a product that would appeal to health-conscious consumersparticularly parentswhile also attracting children. This meant incorporating eye-catching visuals, engaging characters, and persuasive messaging that highlighted both nutritional benefits and fun appeal. The creativity on display has been fantastic, with students demonstrating a clear understanding of branding, target audiences, and promotional strategies. The project not only reinforced classroom learning but also allowed students to experience what it's like to think and work like real marketing professionals. Well done to all Year 10 students for their hard work and innovative ideas! Our professional judge Mrs Akhtar supported us with the judging. Here are the pictures of some of our winners!
On Wednesday, 6EC were lucky enough to take part in "Little Engineers," a programme provided by OTIS and delivered in the UK for the very first time. That's right! CCS were the first school in the UK to take part in this programme. During the session, the children learned about the role of engineers and the importance of safety behind elevators and escalators. They then put their new knowledge into practice by designing and building their own hovercrafts, which they excitedly raced at the end of the session. An inspiring day full of creativity, teamwork, and hands-on learning! The students had a brilliant time and we can't thank OTIS enough for coming and sharing their knowledge and experience.
Before we broke up for half term we welcomed a wonderful nurse and ambulance crew into our Foundation Stage as part of our ongoing learning of 'Help is at Hand'! The children had a fantastic time learning all about the important work they do, how they help people in emergencies, and even exploring some of the equipment they use. It was a wonderful opportunity to help our young learners understand the vital role these services play in keeping our community safe. A huge thank you to our visitors, for taking the time to come into school and inspire the children with such an engaging and informative session. We really appreciate everything you do!
Recently, as part of Outdoor Classroom Day, our students had the fantastic opportunity to work alongside the Bertie Bottle Campaign, a local community group dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and pride in our neighbourhood. A special thank you to Julie, who joined us for the day, sharing her passion for the local community and supporting the children throughout the activities. Students took part in a community litter pick, helping to keep our local area clean while learning about the importance of caring for the environment. It was wonderful to see them working together and taking positive action to make a real difference. #OutdoorClassroomDay #BertieBottleCampaign
On our final day of term 5, we came together to celebrate our Year 11 and Year 13 students as they begin the next stage of their journey. As they head into their final weeks of exams, we wish them every success and happiness in the exciting adventures that lie ahead. Good luck – we're all rooting for you!
