Principal's Bulletin

Friday 14 July 2023

It was a pleasure to welcome over 200 prospective students to our Sixth Form Induction this week. Students got stuck in with taster sessions, discovering more about their subjects of choice and what they could look forward to learning in September. The event was a fantastic opportunity to allow both our existing Year 11 students to mix with external applicants and build connections. The year group can now enjoy spending time relaxing over the summer break, ahead of GCSE results day in August. I wish you all lots of luck in your results and hope to welcome many of you to our Year 12 cohort in September!

Also this week, the Performing Arts Department presented an end of year music concert in the drama studio for parents and friends. The standard of work shown throughout the evening was excellent and it was a real pleasure to watch not only students who were ending their journey at CCS but also those who were just starting out as performers.

Following success in their earlier competitions, our Strictly stars are almost ready to take to the stage for this years’ Dancing Schools UK Grand Final, which kicks off on Sunday! Over two months of hard work in rehearsals has led up to this event. Year 2 are set to perform the Samba and Waltz, for Year 3 & 4 it’s the Cha Cha and Viennese Waltz and our Year 5 & 6 teams will each dance the Tango and Jazz! A big thank you to primary teachers and dancing extraordinaries Mr O’Boyle, Miss Turner, Mr Wood, Miss Coleman, Miss Carter and Mrs Honeywood who have each dedicated countless hours of their time to help our students rehearse and prepare for the show. I cannot wait to hear how you all get on and wish you good luck in your performances.

Just one more week to go until the summer holidays will be upon us.

A busy final week ahead with multiple celebration trips, awards evenings, and exciting end of year treats to honour so many amazing student achievements and mark the end of another incredible academic year.

I hope you all have a lovely, restful weekend!

Warm regards,

David James
Principal
