We are already two weeks into the final term of the academic year, and what a busy start it has been! Our Spanish exchange programme got underway during the end of term break, with 41 Year 8 & 9 students setting off to sunny Spain, ready for 10 days filled with fantastic activities and experiences to put their Spanish speaking into practice. Lots of wonderful walking tours allowed the students to soak up the culture and enjoy the picturesque views of the historic roman ruins (Pictured below left) and port of Tarragona. Highlights also included a thrill-seeking day at PortAventura theme park spending some quality time with their host partners at the beach, a trip to Barcelona, touring the famous Camp Nou and stopping by Parc Güell. 51 of our Year 12 students also jetted away to Paris last week, spending three days immersed in Parisian culture. The group enjoyed visits to sightseeing favourites the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, the Palace of Versailles, the Pompidou Centre and many more. (Pictured above right) I hope all who attended had a fantastic time away at your respective trips. A big thank you to staff in attendance, for supporting our students and helping provide these fantastic opportunities. Thursday saw the first full Primary Sports day since 2019! Every single child donned their house colours with the aim of earning some all-important house points, which add to their running total for the year, providing plenty of motivation to secure the win ahead of finding out who will be crowned house champions 2022/23 in the coming weeks. The children took part in over 100 races that included sprints, hurdles, egg and spoon, sack race, relays and a new CCS favourite on a hot day, the water relay. KS2 were able to take part in a condensed field programme which included stations to test their teamwork, agility, balance and co-ordination skills. At lunchtime, we were thrilled to invite CCS parents and carers to join us for a picnic lunch on the field, it was wonderful to witness the sea of smiling faces enjoying some quality family time. In the afternoon, KS1 were treated to a bonus parents’ race which saw over 50 parents step up to take part in the water relay… with a twist. Cups balanced on heads, the parents raced down the track aiming to become the winning team. A huge thank you to everyone involved who contributed to making the day an inclusive and fun event in which the children were able to share a wonderful competitive spirit. Wishing you all a lovely weekend in the sunshine! Warm regards, David James |
