Principal's Bulletin - Friday 21 April

Please see below our Principal's Bulletin for w/e Friday 21 April.

Principal's Bulletin

Friday 21 April 2023

This week began with a busy training day for staff, which provided time to continue developing the whole school focus on high performance learning and looking at how best to support, challenge and nurture our young people to achieve their full potential.

Many of our faculties later spent time moderating GCSE and A level coursework, ready for final submission, and focussed on curriculum development, to ensure we are consistently providing the best standard of education. The day was also an opportunity to further analyse our behaviour strategies and focus on the work of the behaviour hub project.

Monday also marked National Offer Day for early years foundation stage! I am very much looking forward to welcoming lots of new families to our school community in September.

Another successful virtual parents’ evening this week, this time for our Year 7 cohort. As our youngest secondary phase year group, this was an exciting first opportunity for parents and carers to meet their child’s class teachers and talk about how they are settling in and their progress. Our last parents’ evening of the year will take place in just over a week for Year 8 – full details can be found to the right.

On Thursday, our cadets were fortunate to be visited by the engagement team from the Household Cavalry. They received an informative talk and video about life as a Household Cavalry soldier both in their combat and ceremonial roles in London. Later in the day, the cadets took part in a series of activities and command tasks to help develop their team building and leadership skills.

Next week many of our Year 10s will be undertaking a weeks’ work experience. This is a valuable exercise for the students to experience the world of work and help inform future career aspirations.  I wish them all the best of luck and look forward to hearing about all their successes.

Wishing you all a lovely (and hopefully dry) weekend!

Warm regards,

David James
Principal
