Principal's Bulletin

Friday 7 July 2023

I am pleased to share with you my final bulletin of the year, highlighting some of the wonderful events which have been held over the past week.

On Friday 14 July, we celebrated our first ‘High Performance Learning Day’ and students across the whole school were involved in a range of activities designed to develop their confidence, concern for society and collaboration. The main theme for most year groups was 'Celebrating Diversity'.

Students were seen cooking dishes from a wide range of cultures, analysing some lyrics and creating pieces of art. The planned rounders matches were, unfortunately, cancelled due the weather. However, this didn't dampen spirits, as students demonstrated their resilience with last minute changes to plans! Year 10 were involved in exploring and discussing how anxiety can be managed, plus they had some valuable money management advice, before going on to write personal statements - where they needed to recognise their own skill set. Overall, a very enjoyable day with lots of opportunities given for students to personally develop. Thank you to all the staff involved in planning and delivering this day, and to all the students who participated enthusiastically.

The week started with a fun open afternoon in primary, providing parents with the opportunity to chat with their child’s current class teacher, step into the classroom and take a look at their schoolbooks to discover more about what they have learnt this year, as well meet their child’s teacher for September. Our Strictly stars also put on an incredible performance on the playground for all to enjoy!

On Wednesday, we held a special celebration evening for our Year 6 children and their parents, looking back on their incredible journey throughout primary. The children shared favourite memories, plenty of funny moments and sang some truly beautiful songs – it was a night to remember! Surprise guest Mrs Patterson also came to wish our students well in their next chapter. I hope you all had a fantastic evening and enjoyed one final celebration with your classmates, as you now get ready for your start in Secondary next year.

The last 5 days have been jam-packed with celebration events to honour many of our students. A bowling trip for the highest house point scorers, a pizza party for those with 100% attendance, a reward trip to Snozone for our Primary HPL students of the year, as well as a dedicated Awards Evening for KS3, 4 & 5 students on Tuesday.

It has been a year filled with so many incredible highs across the school and amazing individual accomplishments – I am so proud of you all.

Wishing you all a lovely summer break, please stay safe and enjoy the next six weeks spent with your loved ones.

Warm regards,

David James
Principal
