This week, our Year 10 students took part in a week of work experience, designed to help them gain a useful insight into the world of work and build confidence in a work environment suited to their future career aspirations. Placements were secured with a wide range of businesses, including Mercedes AMG Petronas F1, Milton Keynes University Hospital, University of Northampton and The Cube Disability Centre to name just a few. I would like to thank all local businesses who have helped to provide placements for students during this time. Year 12 students will have their work experience in July. Twice-weekly practice sessions are in full-swing as 30 pupils from Years 2, 3 and 4 are working tirelessly to perfect their performances for this years’ Dancing Schools UK Northamptonshire. Our Year 2 group will be performing the Waltz and Samba, and for Year 3&4 it will be the Cha Cha and Viennese Waltz. Wishing everyone lots of luck! Our Sixth Form head student selection process concluded this week, as shortlisted candidates presented to their peers ahead of the voting process opening for students to choose their leaders next year. The rigorous process involved a written application, followed by an interview with members of the Sixth Form team and current head students. Applicants were then shortlisted ahead of a final presentation to staff and fellow students. I am delighted to share that our new Sixth Form head students are Joel Goredema and Saoirse Staff, who will be shortly taking on their new roles. Congratulations to both and I look forward to seeing the brilliant initiatives you each bring to the school. Finally, a reminder on our behaviour and expectations. We are experiencing a large number of students in secondary phase arriving late to school. Any student arriving late without a reasonable excuse will be given a 60-minute detention. Please can I ask you to reinforce this expectation with your child. A busy term ahead as we edge closer to SATs for primary phase and exam season for our GCSE and A Level students with many exciting trips and events to look forward to. For now, I wish you all a wonderful bank holiday weekend! Warm regards, David James |
