Principal's Bulletin

Friday 5 May 2023

We are just days away from the start of our busy examinations season – beginning with Primary SATs next week and then GCSE and A Level examinations kicking off mid-May. This can be an incredibly stressful time for all involved and I encourage students to use all school resources available to help during this time and as always, to be kind and supportive to your peers as you tackle this busy time together. Students have worked incredibly hard, and I am confident this will show in your results. I wish you all the very best of luck!

Revision sessions for both GCSE and A Level subjects remain available for students to join – further information on these can be found on the digital screens around school and from class teachers.

There were lots of positive conversations taking place at our Year 8 virtual parents’ evening this week. Whilst this marks an end to all parents’ evenings for the academic year, a reminder that Edulink is always available for parents and carers to contact any of their child’s teachers to discuss any concerns or queries you may have.

On Wednesday, we welcomed Simon Aston, Online Safety and Wellbeing Officer, into school for a series of talks with our secondary students. The key message he wanted to share with all age groups is that social media is not the issue, rather it is the behaviour behind the social media usage. For Year 12s, he addressed the impact of students’ digital footprint on future employability, and for Years 8-10, he explained the benefits vs. the negative aspects of the internet. All students were encouraged to share opinions, answer questions and to think critically and with empathy when posting, commenting and sharing material online.

I am delighted to share the news that our U16 boys football team are County Cup champions! The group met Latimer on Wednesday for the final round of the cup. Two goals from T. Allen and another from J. James secured the victory. Final score 3-2 to CCS. A huge congratulations to all players on your fantastic achievement.

Another long Bank Holiday weekend ahead of us in honour of the King’s Coronation on Saturday. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the festivities!

Warm regards,

David James
Principal
