Years 5 to 8 - Science Fair 2023

Dear parents and carers

Following a hugely successful science competition and fair last year, I am pleased to announce that we have launched our 2023 science fair and competition for our students.  The fair will take place during National Science week on 13 March and is open to all students from Year 5 to Year 8.  Students who wish to take part in the competition will need to work in small groups (maximum of 4) on a science, technology or maths project of their choice.

The most creative and innovative projects won the competition last year, and we are looking for groups of students who would like to challenge themselves to become flexible, fluent thinkers.  We have purchased a number of display boards for our students to showcase their work, and they will also be able to run interactive experiments/displays during the evening.  Entries will be judged by our trustees and by science ambassadors from the region.

I am also pleased to share that we are supporting students to gain an accredited Bronze Crest Award for their project. A Bronze project planning form can be collected from Mr. Gardiner in the Science Department.

All parents, carers and families are invited to the event on the 13 March, which will start at 4.30pm and finish at 6.30pm. More details will follow nearer the time.

An expression of interest form has already been shared with students via their year group Teams, but another link to it is here https://forms.office.com/e/7xrpamd67d

Wishing all entrants lots of luck – and we look forward to seeing their projects.

Kind regards

James Gardiner
