  • Year 9 Boys Win County Cup!

    Published 02/05/24, by Autumn Wilson-Haywood

For the second year in succession, Caroline Chisholm School played NSB to be crown county cup champions in a highly anticipated final. Last year NSB were triumphant, winning on penalties, but CCS made sure there would be no repeat of that again.

From kick-off, CCS asserted dominance and soon the scoreboard lit up as CCS took an early lead after just 3 minutes. A dream start. A second goal came within the first 10 minutes of the game and, after a finely worked move, CCS scored their third of the game in the 18th minute, which remained the scoreline at half-time.

NSB tried to break through the CCS’s solid defence but were thwarted at every turn through some resolute defending and some fantastic saves from H. Duff in goal. CCS capitalised on NSB looking for their first goal of the game and launched relentless attacks when winning the ball to score again early in the second half. CCS’s cohesive display proved too much for NSB and when the final whistle blew, CCS emerged triumphant with a resounding 6-0 victory.

A man of the match display from T. Goodman helped propel the team to victory with 5 assists during the game. Scores included J. Ferreria, J. Foku, M. Marcu and C. Rosetti.

A great season in which the team were unbeaten ended with captain R. Southworth lifting the county cup final trophy. All the boys that played for the team this season should be incredibly proud of themselves, as I certainly am.
