  • Year 9 Netball Friendlies v Pitsford School

    Published 06/12/23, by Megan Innes

CCS welcomed Pitsford to play 2 friendly matches last Thursday.  Pitsford had a strong Year 10 team against a CCS Year 9 team, and it was incredibly close and great to push our strong Year 9’s, and they coped really well.

I Robertson’s shooting was fabulous, and A Hollis passed well into the circle.  Special mention to the defenders of F Osisanya and J Denness who marked the strong shooters from Pitsford so well and made some fabulous interceptions.

Well done to many of the Year 9’s who were playing their first game for CCS.  R Parmer, I Anand and L Tilley had brilliant matches and T Gisanrin and E Taylor as always used their experience and netball knowledge to support the students who were playing their first matches.

A lovely afternoon of netball.  Well done to all!

  • Year 7/8 Futsal Tournament - 04/12/23

    Published 05/12/23, by Megan Innes

CCS welcomed Elizabeth Woodville School and Sponne School as part of a Year 7/8 futsal tournament on Monday 4 December.

The first game was against Sponne, which was an incredibly competitive game for the boys with a back and forth feel. Sponne took the lead and then CCS scored, soon becoming a common theme of the game. However, a determined and resilient CCS saw them bring back a goal in the last minute to win the game 4-3.

Moving into the second and final game of the tournament against EWS, the boys made very hard work of this game, going 2-0 down at half time.

As the boys have shown time and time again, they will always fight to come back and this time it was a success, firing in two goals in quick succession before finishing a well worked move off, winning the game 3-2.

The boys played incredibly well in their first tournament together, playing two and winning two. Well done boys!

  • Year 9 Rugby County Cup - 29/11/23

    Published 04/12/23, by Megan Innes

Our CCS Year 9 rugby team entertained Wrenn School at Wellingborough in the County Cup last Wednesday, with a mix of club players and non-rugby club players on our team. It was great to see the boys running out full of confidence. CCS were quickly in the ascendancy and were clinical in attack.

The team still have a lot of defensive work to improve on, however, their ball retention in rucks was excellent and some fantastic balanced running with the ball.

Congratulations to M Hyams on player on the match.

The boys face Moulton away in the next round.

A fantastic game between CCS and Hackleton took place last week. The boys took an early lead through Kye, who later in the half doubled the advantage before Hackleton pulled one back early in the second half.

Kye grabbed the match ball with a few minutes to go before Hackleton scored to make it a nervous last 2 minutes for Mr Wood and Mr O'Boyle.

    Final score: CCS 3 - 2 Hackleton

  • U14s Girls National Cup Football v Redborne - 21/11/23

    Published 21/11/23, by Megan Innes

The game started with a quick two goals from Redborne, the girls quickly knew they had to play tighter and firmer to keep their place in the cup. Kyla managed to break on the left wing and score an excellent top corner goal. The game was 2-1 at half time. With some injuries in the first half, some changes were made to the CCS Team. The girls played excellent football, holding Redborne off for a good time during the 2nd half. Towards the latter half, Redborne broke through and scored another goal 3-1. The girls kept fighting, but Redborne were strong on the attack and took the lead to 5-1 with 10 minutes to go. With a break on the wing, Kyla and Lily were on the attack once again. Lily played the ball to Millie in centre midfield who secured us our 2nd goal of the game. With the game 5-2 with the final minutes to go, Annabel continued to make some fantastic saves and Leah and Sienna in defence kept their attack from scoring any more. In the final few minutes, Redborne had a break through and finished the game 6-2.

Redborne being an upper school, had a team of all Year 9 players. Our team currently only has 3 players in that age group. The girls did tremendously to make the 4th round of the National Cup and challenge other teams in the year group above.  Next year, the girls will come back even stronger and more experienced.

I am very proud of their resilience, teamwork and team spirit to not give up, drop their heads and play with sportsmanship.

Well done to all the girls involved in the National Cup Squad and for being selected from many girls at training. This is the furthest CCS has ever reached in the Girls National Cup, and I am proud of their success.

    Players player: Lily B

    Managers Player: Annabel A

  • Year 5/6 Girls Football v Wootton Primary - 20/11/23

    Published 21/11/23, by Megan Innes

On Monday 20 November, our Year 5/6 Girls Football team welcomed Wootton Primary School.

It was an exciting first half with some great saves from both keepers and some fantastic last-ditch tackles. Unfortunately, there were no goals in the first half and the teams were all square at the break. After a switch of formations, the second half was underway. Sophie M broke the deadlock with an excellent run and goal. CCS battled to maintain the lead but a freekick in the last moments of the game saw Wootton pull level. The game finished 1-1.

Player of the match: Sophie M
