Wishing everyone a wonderful summer break! This week, it was time for our Year 6 children to celebrate! As they prepare to leave primary school and continue onto secondary, they've enjoyed a week packed with fun and memorable activities to mark this special milestone. From toasting marshmallows in Forest School and picnicking in the park with ice cream, to a cosy movie day in their PJs with popcorn – it's been a joyful send-off. On Wednesday, we held a celebration evening with families, followed by their very own CCS Festival, and today they rounded it all off with shirt signing and big smiles. A massive thank you to Miss Carter, Mrs Lynes, Mrs Meredith, Mrs Gotch, Mrs Oswin, Mrs Smith and Mrs Strickland. We couldn't have done it without you and all your amazing dedication to the students. We're also so grateful to everyone else who contributed behind the scenes to help create such a memorable and joyful week for our Year 6s – thank you! We can't wait to see most of you again in September – until then, have a restful and happy summer!

Our Silver Duke of Edinburgh qualifying expedition took place in Tilton on the Hill over three days and two nights. Each day, we walked approximately 17 km while carrying full expedition rucksacks. The team demonstrated resilience and determination throughout, despite facing a wide range of weather conditions, from extreme heat to cold winds and rain. The expedition tested our physical and mental endurance. Navigation proved interesting, with a few unexpected detours, but the team remained focused and completed the route successfully. Spirits stayed high throughout, and we even took part in a fun and competitive camp sports day, which included go-kart racing, an indoor climbing wall, tug of war, an assault course, and a game of rounders. This qualifying expedition followed a similar three-day practice expedition completed in May. In addition to the expedition, participants are required to complete at least six months of volunteering (one hour per week), learn a new skill, and take part in a physical activity to achieve the full Silver Award. The experience was both challenging and rewarding. It helped us grow in confidence, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and appreciate the value of perseverance and preparation. The expedition was a memorable part of our DofE journey. Well done to all!

Year 9 students at CCS have recently taken on a creative challenge with visual storytelling and artistic flair. As part of their Final Major Project in Art, every student was tasked with producing original and exciting photographs to support their work - an assignment that pushed them to explore composition, mood, and meaning through the lens. What makes this project really special is that for many students, this will be their last opportunity to develop an extended art piece in school. With some moving on to different subjects next year, this assignment has given them a chance to channel their artistic talent once more and experimenting and expressing themselves visually. From fairytale funghi and dynamic shadows to snapshots of the everyday world, their work will now feed into their final project presentations. The prints of these will be on display in E1 for the remainder of the term and a new Photography assignment is currently in the planning stages for September- watch this space.

Our intrepid band of Year 12 Geography students have been enjoying their time on the Dorset coast this week, revising their understanding of coastal geography processes, and developing their fieldwork skills needed to complete their NEA (coursework). They have studied Weymouth's town centre to determine the 'health' of their high street shopping facilities and explored the amazing coastal features of Chesil Beach, Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Old Harry's Rocks. We are also conducting fieldwork to compare the beautiful beaches of Studland and Sandbanks spit, where house prices are amongst the highest in the UK. Looks like a brilliant time of new experiences and hands on learning!

On Friday 4th July, we proudly marked our 20th anniversary with a fantastic day of celebration across the whole school community. From inflatables to silent discos, party games to live performances, it was a fun-filled day of school spirit! Primary students kicked off the fun with the amazing inflatables! Perfect for bouncing, exploring and burning off energy! Secondary students danced the morning away at their year group silent discos, showing off their best moves in style. Afternoon festivities included Key Stage 2 taking their turn at the silent disco, while Key Stage 1 enjoyed classic party games and a mini disco of their own. Meanwhile, Secondary students gathered on the field for a live concert featuring some of our incredibly talented students and staff performers. Sweet treats during the silent disco sessions from the CCS Friends tuck shop added an extra boost of joy, and we're so thankful to all the CCS Friends volunteers who gave their time to help make the day a success. We are beyond proud of everything Caroline Chisholm School has achieved over the past two decades, and it was wonderful to share this milestone with our amazing students and staff. Here's to the next 20 years! #CCS20Years #SchoolAnniversary #ProudToBeCCS #CCSCommunity
