What an amazing day for Year 3 at the Think Tank Museum in Birmingham on Monday! The group had a blast, diving into all our learning themes in the most hands-on way possible! From discovering the wonders in our Amazing Animals workshop, to exploring the Science Garden where we tested our knowledge of forces and balance, the fun never stopped! The children were engaged, curious, and showed off their fantastic skills while representing our school with pride!

Sports Round-Up: A Week of Great Performances It's been a fantastic week of sport for our school teams, with plenty of determination, teamwork and standout moments. Year 6 Cricket Festival – Northamptonshire Sport On Wednesday, our Year 6 team represented the school brilliantly at the Northamptonshire Sport Cricket Festival. With one win and one narrow loss in both the group and next stages, they finished 6th out of 12 schoolsa great achievement! Every player contributed with skill and enthusiasm. Tuesday Cricket Fixture: CCS vs Northampton School for Boys CCS faced a tough match against NSB. After a strong start with the ballhighlighted by a wicket from Lily H.NSB built a solid total. CCS were bowled out short of the target, losing by 65 runs, but showed real spirit and effort. Monday U13 Boys Cricket: CCS vs EWS Our U13 boys secured a 52-run win over EWS. Showing determination and hard work throughout. Y Singh was named Player of the Match for his excellent all-round performance. Girls' Rounders: Year 7–10 vs Moulton On Tuesday afternoon, our Year 7–10 girls' rounders teams travelled to Moulton for a series of matches. Moulton won 3 out of the 4 games, with our Year 9 team securing a draw. All teams showed great effort and sportsmanship throughout.

A group of 50 Year 9 students returned on Monday after an unforgettable four-day journey through the Belgium and French battlefields. Trip leader Miss Olive, reflects on the experience: "We visited some of the most significant World War I sites, including the Menin Gate, Essex Farm Cemetery, Sanctuary Wood Museum, Tyne Cot Cemetery, Langemark German Cemetery, and the In Flanders Field Museum. Our journey then took us into France, where students explored the powerful memorials of Vimy Ridge, Lochnagar Mine Crater, Thiepval Memorial, and Newfoundland Memorial Park. Throughout the trip, the students displayed exceptional respect, curiosity, and engagement with the history of each site. Their thoughtful reflections and mature behaviour truly made the experience special. I hope they found it as rewarding as I did!" A truly inspiring trip that brought history to life and left lasting memories.

Last week, the Key Stage 3 Drama Club students showcased their fabulous own devised performances based on the theme "Summer" to the Performing Arts department. The students have been working hard devising, writing and producing their 5-minute performances using collaboration, resilience and self-regulation, all supported by the backstage crew organising the props, costume, lighting and sound. It was a joy to see their hard work, individuality and humour! Well done to all!

On Thursday, ten children from Years 3/4 and 5/6 attended the Quadkids Athletics competition at Daventry Athletics. They took part in four different disciplines: a distance run, sprint, vortex throw and standing long jump. Despite the hot weather, all the children represented the school with pride and displayed wonderful teamwork. Over 400 children participated in the event, with 20 schools competing in each age category. We are very proud of the children: the Year 3/4 team came 5th, while our Year 5/6 team came 3rd, narrowly missing out on a place in the district finals. "Well done to you all. I was especially proud to see how much you encouraged each other during the different events and kept each other motivated," shared Mrs Coleman.

On Friday 13 June, a group of our incredible Year 12 students stepped into the world of international politics at their very first Model United Nations Conference! In Model UN, students represent the interests and perspectives of a different nation, working alongside other delegates to reach a resolution to some of the world's current global issues. Representing Germany, Turkey, and South Korea, our CCS delegates tackled pressing global issues like global tariffs in the World Trade Organization and peaceful protest rights in the Human Rights Council. We're so proud to share that two of our students were recognised for their hard work and contribution to the event - Ann Matthew took home Best Position Paper in the UN Office for Drugs and Crime, while Nathan Fearnley was awarded Best Delegate in the World Health Organisation! Model UN is an excellent opportunity for students to dive into global affairs, practice diplomacy, and work alongside peers from other schools. We can't wait to welcome new Sixth Form delegates to the club this September!

Yesterday, girls from Years 5 and 6 showcased their skills in four exciting matches during this week's District Round of the Girls' Dynamos Cricket. Before the first game, the team created a fun "Greased Lightning"-style celebration for every four-run hit and with the sun shining and the cricket flowing, they had plenty of opportunities to use it! With two wins and two losses, the team finished mid-table, showing noticeable improvement with each game. Their teamwork shone through, especially as they took the initiative to organise their own fielding positions with great communication and collaboration. Well done girls!

We would like to say a big thank you to the amazing team from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service - Mereway Station for visiting our reception students on Thursday. The children were thrilled to learn all about fire safety and the vital role firefighters play in keeping us safe. Your time, enthusiasm and dedication made a lasting impression, and the children haven't stopped talking about it since! Thank you for inspiring our youngest learners and helping them understand the importance of staying safe and being brave.
