  • Girls Football Celebrates

    Published 30/09/22, by Autumn Wilson-Haywood

We are so excited to share the girls' football training had 58+ girls attend along with 7 sports leaders in sixth form who have played previously for Mrs Evans throughout her 5 years at CCS.

Mrs Evans was a super proud teacher to see such a positive outcome! As someone who has spent 15 years here at the school coaching girls football and winning a total of 6 county cup trophies (and with the recent successes of the lionesses). It makes me so proud to see Caroline Chisholm School ahead of the path with our encouragement and promotion of girls football throughout our time as a school.

After travelling away to Kettering, the boys suffered a 3-1 loss vs Kettering Buccleuch Academy (KBA) in the first game of the county cup in 2022-23. Plenty more games to come this year for the group and the chance to make a more positive start in the District league fixtures.

A fantastic experience and honour for the Under 13's girls on Monday the 11 of July as they were selected by Northants Cricket to be the flag bearers for England Women's Cricket team v South Africa.

The girls as County Champions were given the honour as they were the first ever state school to win the indoor tournament.

They have also just represented Northants in an outdoor regional tournament too.

A brilliant year of cricket from the girls capped off with a wonderful experience at the England game. The girls should be really proud of all their achievements this year and I hope they continue to enjoy their cricket and have more success in the upcoming academic year.

  • Year 5 and 6 Tennis team - Summer School Games

    Published 21/07/22, by Autumn Wilson-Haywood

Our CCS Year 5 & 6 Tennis team travelled to Moulton College to compete at 'the biggest day of school sports in the county' - the Summer School Games. A week prior they qualified with a strong performance in a group competition with 8 other local schools, the children were excited and ready to compete against the other top qualifying teams in the county.

The children took part in 10 different tennis skills activities under a strict time limit. Each activity completed gave each child an individual score which was incorporated into a total final score for their school across the whole day.

After four hours of 10 high-intensity activities the children had given everything for CCS, performing with great skill and determination as well as supporting each other and encouraging the other teams to do their best. The scores were checked and verified, and the waiting was over, now for the results!!

CCS placed 1st in the County, outscoring the other top 5 qualifying schools in Northamptonshire!!

All 10 of the team were tired and exhausted from their efforts until they heard CCS’s name being called for 1st PLACE and cheering with excitement they all found the energy to run down to the stage to collect their trophy for winning the event.

  • Girl's hockey team - School Games County Finals

    Published 11/07/22, by Autumn Wilson-Haywood

The girl's hockey team competed at the School Games County Finals at Moulton College.

First up was Bishop Stopford School, the girls had a game plan and scored 8 goals to take the win 8-0! Up next was Malcolm Arnold School, a tough team to play against, but the girls showed excellent teamwork and sheer determination throughout the game. They scored two brilliant goals against a good goalkeeper. It was a tense finish, but the girls defended hard and fought till the very last minute to ensure the game finished 2-2! In the final game, the girls knew they firstly needed a win, but also to become county champions they needed to win by 2 goals. After a good team talk from Captain Katie the team went in with a positive mindset to play as a team, utilise every player on the pitch and build the play to score as many goals as they could. The girls showed brilliant attacking skills and teamwork to win the game 6-1!

The Caroline Chisholm team were crowned County Champions!

    Goal scorers: K Fidler, E Spencer & F Robson

A special mention goes to I Cairns for playing in goal for the first time and making excellent saves!
