  • Sixth Form Netball friendly - 22/11/22

    Published 23/11/22, by Megan Innes

On Tuesday 22 November, CCS welcomed the lovely Pitsford sixth form/Year 11 netball team over for a friendly match.  It was a very close, well fought match with some outstanding defending from F Allen, C Wong, K Lemmon and C Miller.  As always M Jones, A Mellish, and H Pettit were strong when they were shooting and E Webster worked well in the centre court. It was great to see J Eze back at Centre and T McCaughey fed well into the circle. K Lemmon picked up so many loose balls, and it was 8 – 8 at half time but in the second half Pitsford tired (understandably as they had a smaller squad due to illness) and CCS dominated the 2nd half and won 18 – 10.

Player of the match as voted for by the Pitsford team F Allen.  Well done to the team.

A fantastic start to the game saw CCS in control and managing the game well. A sloppy end to the half saw the scores 1-1 at half time.

A stalemate in the 2nd half with a few excellent saves from the Abbeyfield goalkeeper and a crucial late save with 20 seconds remaining from F.McMillan in goal for CCS. CCS won 4-2 on penalties with F.McMillan saving and all of the takers converting theirs for CCS.

  • Year 8 Football vs Sponne - 08/11/22

    Published 09/11/22, by Megan Innes

Yesterday afternoon, the Year 8 football team travelled to Sponne School for a County Cup, quarter-final fixture. A brilliant first 10 minutes saw CCS 2-0 up after goals from C. Rosetti and J. Ferreria and then the team carried that momentum into the rest of the first half but unfortunately couldn’t find that third goal. Sponne then scored at the end of the first half to make it 2-1. Sponne scored two quickfire goals to make it 3-2.

However, the teams heads did not drop, instead they kept pushing for an equaliser, and continued to work incredibly hard and pressed every ball. Eventually their determination was rewarded with a goal towards the end of the second half and penalties quickly followed. A couple of missed spot kicks from both sides resulted in a 2-1 win for CCS. The team now advance to the semi-finals of the County Cup.

Man of the match was O. McCarthy for his tireless determination and leadership qualities when the team found themselves behind.

  • Year 8 Netball vs Magdalen

    Published 02/11/22, by Autumn Wilson-Haywood

Caroline Chisholm School travelled to Magdalen for the Year 8 league netball match with a very strong squad and many players unlucky not to be selected for this game.  CCS took control of the game during the 1st quarter with strong shooting from I Robinson who was outstanding in the circle.   Special mention to H Morris who played a wonderful WD, picking up any loose balls in the centre third and helping CCS go on the attack again.  By half-time CCS were 6 – 0 up.

In the 2nd half some changes were made, but again CCS coped with this and F Osisanya defended exceptionally and E Swaffer went to GA and was shooting from the edge of the circle with great success.  E Taylor played so well, whatever position she played, and the final score was Magdalen 0 – 15 CCS.

Player of the match (as chosen by Magdalen players) was E Taylor but H Morris also deserves to be noted as player of the match as she really played so well.
